Tea at 3 is a simple and fun way to raise money for your local hospice either at work, school or home. Throughout June thousands of people in workplaces, schools, at home and across local communities held fundraising tea parties or made a donation for their tea break.

Eden Valley Hospice is for people who have life threatening illnesses. Hospice care is based on the simple idea – that the person is more than the illness. Each of us – sick or well – has unique physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. Hospices try to respond to these needs in ways  which place the highest value on respect, choice and empowerment.

A hospice is not just a building, it is a way of caring with compassion. All this care is provided free of charge and is only possible because of the commitment and support of local people. Eden Valley Hospice is at the heart of the local community it serves.   We only receive 25% of our running costs from the NHS which means we have to raise nearly £1.4 Million a year from charitable giving to operate. Collectively hospices are the biggest fundraising cause in the UK.

Last year hospices cared for nearly 250,000 people. Each one was a mother, a father, a child, a friend or a colleague. 95% of adult hospice admissions are for cancer related conditions but hospices also care for people with a variety of other non-curable illnesses such as HIV/Aids, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s disease and rare genetic diseases.
