A
team of over 300 volunteers support the work of the Hospice. They
are involved in every aspect of Hospice life and make a vital
contribution to the operation of the Hospice. You will find volunteers
helping in the wards or washing dishes in the kitchen. Working
in the Garden or helping a family come to terms with the loss of a
loved one.Volunteers are also heavily
involved in the fundraising department, from helping at events or in
one of the charity shops to carrying out the mountains of admin work
that goes with fundraising.
From time to time we have specific voluntary needs,
below are details of the current areas that we need help with.

Laundry Volunteers |

|
As part of our housekeeping team, you will be loading machines
with dirty laundry (towels, sheets etc), drying and
pressing. You should be able to use your own initiative and
enjoy being part of a team.

Shop Volunteers -
Carlisle Shop

Monday to Saturday
(Various days and hours available) |
We are looking
for friendly, approachable people to help for a few hours each
week at our shop in Botchergate, Carlisle. The shop is open
Monday to Saturday 10am until 4pm. Duties will involve
serving customers, and sorting and displaying donated goods

Kitchen Volunteers |
On Call |
Will be assisting our
dedicated catering team where required, setting tables,
filling water jugs and washing pots and pans both by hand and
machine. You must enjoy being part of a team, able to use your
own initiative and have a good sense of humour.

We require volunteers to serve and advise
customers and ensure books are correctly displayed. You should
have a keen interest in books, be able to use your own initiative
and enjoy dealing with the general public.

Using your own
transport to collect patients from their own home and bring to the
Margaret Dunne Day Hospice, returning them home again, once day
care has ended, You should have a clean driving licence, a
friendly manner and enjoy being part of a small team. (We
will reimburse your fuel expenses).

Donated Goods Sorters |
Monday and/or Wednesday
2-3 hours per day |
Based at the hospice, sorting and pricing donated goods ready to
be despatched to any of our 4 retail outlets. Training will be
provided but you must be able to use your own initiative.

Static Collection Box Managers |

Own Transport Essential

To place collecting
boxes at various locations and then service these boxes when full.
i.e. empty boxes, bank the income and report details to the Hospice.
Full training will be provided and you will be part of a small
dedicated team that manage this aspect of our fundraising. You must have your own
transport for which a mileage allowance is payable.
